The obviously talented, but barely out of school, experimental siblings The Simpson Brothers opened for the Sunnyvale Noise Sub-Element and the Alpha Males at SubSiren Live at the Hop Pole on Friday August 22nd 2008.
Hunched over a table full of gadgets, the real-life brother’s came armed with a home-made equipment and ravaged half an hour into a set of spikey guitars (yes, that’s a home- made guitar!) and spooky electronic tones, touched up with plenty of screaming. It was both thought-engaging and visually impressive.
Soon after this performance the duo changed their name to ‘Circuit Breaker’ and before long started to merge their noise aspects into more coherant song-structures, while still remaining semi-improvisational.
They have made an effort to document every one of their performances since the summer of 2010, each one unique. Here are some selected snippets, including a rather effective lager-cam;
Outside of Circuit Breaker Edward Simpson is finishing off his art degree and also performs solo. Here he is mixing the two by performing in one of his sculptures, using soundproofing to acoustically alter the space
The duo also run their own record label and put on their own shows through it http://goldencranes.blogspot.com/p/gigs.html
