Audioscope 2012

The annual charity all-day Audioscope festival returns to the Jericho Tavern, Oxford on Saturday 10th November with another boundary pushing line-up that doesn’t disappoint.

Ex-Can legend Damo Suzuki, the voice of ‘Tago Mago’, tops the bill for his second Audioscope appearance.  He will be joined by an all-star band to be announced in due course.  The Warm Digits (pictured below), a trans-Pennines duo I was honoured to review for Artrocker earlier in the year, are also booked.  They are masters of electronic DIY excursions, similar in sound to Holy Fuck and Neu!, with a hint of the Go! Team.

Local soundscape hero Jerome Alexander (below) is also on the bill via his superb alter ego Message to Bears.  You may recall his ‘EP‘ release selling out on Aylesbury label Dead Pilot Records a few years back.

The hotly tipped Gunning for Tamar make an appearance earlier in the day.  Described by the NME as ‘early Biffy Clyro wrestling with a bulked-up Future of the Left’ the Oxford group have also been recent favourites of XFM and BBC6 Music.  Dethscalator (below), a ferociously heavy act who have supported the likes of Swans, Fucked Up and Acid Mothers Temple, are second on and look set to set the room alight.  Opening are Listing Ships who brought the house down at SubSiren Live at the White Swan last year.  The group open every year due one of the Audioscope organisers being in the band and will always satisfy any sea faring, post-rock inklings you may have.
