The people of Aylesbury rejoiced today following the announcement that seminal ska band The Specials will be performing at the Waterside Theatre on Friday 3rd May 2013.
The gig, an absolute coup for the town, is part of the Friars revival and congratulations should go to longtime organiser David Stopps for making it happen.
The band are no strangers to Friars Aylesbury having supported the Clash there in 1978, billed as the Coventry Automatics, they actually changed their name to the Specials shortly before going on stage. They returned for a headlining performance two years later in June 1980 (below)
Tickets are for their 2013 show are £35 and restricted to 2 per person. They go on sale next Saturday (16/02) at 10am from the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre box office, or 2pm via their website or by phone.
